“SIMON PETER ANSWERED, ‘YOU ARE THE MESSIAH,
THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD’ ”
MATTHEW 16
|
|

“Caesarea Philippi
is the place where Jesus asked his disciples, ‘Who
do you say I am?’
I felt that as the disciples experienced it then, we
did as well. This question became like an echo
whispered to us as we walked through the most
beautiful scenery to the magnificent waterfall. Then
the question is answered by Peter and authentic
revelation. It was a reality for him then, as it is
for us today!” |

"What a unique experience, to take a morsel
of powerful scripture, stand in the very
spot it was lived out, and share its meaning
with your new found family. These
times of sharing at each beautiful location
did just that, made our tour group a very
tight family while breathing added life and
color to each location. The verses
just jump off the page in these settings.
It was an extra special treat to experience
Israel for the first time with my precious
son, Bryce. Our assigned location was
Caesarea Philippi. WOW! The beauty of this
location is so comforting and protective,
just like our personal relationship with
Jesus. It is so easy to say in that
spectacular beauty and safety, there most
surely is a God and He is Jesus. But
the question is, when I am no longer in the
comfort zone, who do I say Jesus really is?
How deep does my faith run and to what
extent am I ready to contend and defend for
it? I will forever cherish our moment
together in Caesarea Philippi as a reminder
of how great His love truly is for us." |

"I will always remember Caesarea Philippi as
the place where I was personally challenged
to consider my own faith in Jesus before
men. This was my first experience
sharing from the Bible and from the heart
with a large group. I was pretty
nervous, at first. Once I opened in prayer,
I began to feel a little more comfortable.
Then I really broke the ice with my mini
boom box which played Hava Nagila--our
group's party song. I can see why Gila
loves her job. She gets to touch
peoples' lives with fascinating Bible
history in the beautiful scenery where it
all took place." |

"My observation at this get-away resort,
shrine to the god Pan: this was not just a
country of Jews. Pagans lived here
too. There was a Roman presence. It
makes me laugh to think of Jesus and the
boys coming to this kind of place for
retreat and for such an important
announcement about what was to happen in
Jerusalem. And to pray. While at
the same time the pagans came to play!" |
