"AND NOW OUR FEET ARE STANDING
WITHIN YOUR GATEWAYS, O JERUSALEM"
PSALM 122

Bible References for Jerusalem

The Passion begins when Jesus came to Jerusalem for the pilgrimage feast of Passover.  The Temple was thronged with pilgrims from all over Galilee and Judea, as well as those from Alexandria, Rome, Cappadocia, and Cyrene, modern-day Libya.  First century AD historian Josephus wrote that during one Passover there were 255,600 sacrifices in the Temple.  That makes a very crowded city -- with full employment for tour guides!

The selections below can be the beginning of an enriching exploration of Scriptural events in Jerusalem.
